About the PMPA Awards

WHAT ARE THE AIMS OF THE PMPA AWARDS?

The aims of the Australia Awards for Development are to:

  • develop capacity and leadership skills so that individuals can contribute to development in their home country
  • build people to people links at the individual, institutional and country levels

The objectives of the PMPA Awards are to contribute to achieving the aims of the Australia Awards for Development by:

  • deepening awardees' exposure to Australian work practices
  • buliding links between awardees' and individuals in their host organisation and between host organisations and awardees' home institution/ employer
  • strengthening awardees' leadership capacity

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Award recipients may identify, or are matched with, an appropriate Australian organisation who will act as their host for between one to three months. By supporting their professional development, host organisations contribute to the scholars' ability to make a lasting difference to their respective sectors in their home country.

Awardees must undertake the work placement in Australia within four months of completing their postgraduate studies under their Australian Development Scholarship (ADS) or Australian Leadership Award Scholarship (ALAS).
